idea of a portable linux operating system for daily use

todo list:

1. get a small team
2. find out whats possible and whats not
3. choose a distro/project to build onto/start with their ideas

features

• only one usb port should be used(*)
• fully encrypted as anti theft measure
• optimized for usb stick use (ro fs, persistent changes etc., like slax)
• X system, office, multimedia, development programs included
• full backup system: create data file on usb/network that can be used to replicate the whole system including user content

(*)hardware ideas:

1. run from one stick, additional data on another
2. make hardware with integrated usb hub and additional usb port(s)
3. hardware with integrated card reader and usb hub

is there a chance to implement the boot and unencrypt system read only?
