Off to New Servers!
Pirates in Germany are yet again gearing up for the federal state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) on May, 9th 2010. All planning procedures are running on top speed but not everything flows smoothly. One of our main problems at the moment, is our technical infrastructure. Our servers were adequate in the days when they were used by a mere 200 pirates. The challenge is to determine on a daily basis, that our server capacities are not sufficient anymore. By now, there are about 11,000 German Pirate Party members. 2,000 of them live in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since more and more are joining our ranks, demands on technical infrastructure have grown, too. Despite the web site of the regional association of NRW, there are a lot of web sites for sub-formations, such as local groups, crews and round tables. Additionally, we need a lot of server capacity for hosting election related web sites, blogs, portals and collaboration software to coordinate our election campaign.
Only with a well-configured and furnished technical infrastructure, we will be able to lead a unique election campaign. Yet this requires quite a large amount of financial assets, 4,000 Euro is what we are talking about. With these 4,000 Euro our tech team will be able to take enough precautionary measures, so that we will be ready and well-prepared for the buisy times of the campaign. We have all the know-how, the right ideas that it takes, but we do not have the money to make all this real - but this can be CHANGED!
Please make a donation and help us prepare the technical infrastructure to fulfill the demands of an election campaign for 18 million people in North Rhine-Westphalia. Our goal is to enter the state parliament, and make this dream become reality.
