= Abstract =

This is another example, that the internet never ever forgets. Especially in combination with wrong news this has a high potential of causing problems.
Even if the wrong news is lacking common sense obviously, there is nothing too stupid to get reposted without questioning in our fast acting world wide web.

This is a perfect example for the always remembering Internet and the speed how wrong things can go around the world. I'll try to do my very best, do let go the story (hopefully) right.

= Facts =

The Student and former Erotic Model Olivie Brabcová is on position 9 on the election list of ČPS/Praha (Czech Pirate Party, Prague). [https://www.ceskapiratskastrana.cz/wiki/ao:kandidatky:pha?rev=1273767867]

lidovky.cz published two articles, one 19th [http://www.lidovky.cz/piratka-a-kandidatka-do-snemovny-se-svlekla-strane-to-muze-pomoci-pyl-/lide.asp?c=A100519_123836_ln_domov_glu] and another 20th of May [http://www.lidovky.cz/naha-piratka-chce-do-snemovny-djk-/ln_noviny.asp?c=A100520_000112_ln_noviny_sko&klic=237054&mes=100520_0].

Within Minutes the news found their way to austria [http://derstandard.at/1271377097866/Tschechische-Piratenpartei-wirbt-auch-mit-Nacktfotos-um-Stimmen].

Within another 30 Minutes the Article was translated and republished in german Language by an austrian news site. They even used the same pictures as in the czech article [http://www.oe24.at/welt/Piratenpartei-wirbt-mit-nackter-Kandidatin-0711705.ece].

http://diepresse.com/ [http://diepresse.com/home/politik/aussenpolitik/488350/index.do?gal=488350&index=2] followed, putting the news in the foreign politics section but showing Olivie in cloths.

Olivie said via twitter about 14:00 MEST, 21st of May >this "nude" campaign wasn´t planned.<

A short analysis shows, that her photos have some "fans" posting them on different locations, so it seems it wouldn't make any sense, to put some 10 Photos more anywhere on the web.

However, in germany the legend spreads [http://forum.piratenpartei.de/viewtopic.php?f=130&t=19217&start=0].

Only the "Wayne Interessierts" blog [http://wayne.interessierts.eu/2010/05/20/tschechische-piratenpartei-mit-erotikmodel-zur-wahl/] did some research on their own and came to a slightly other story then the other news portals.

"Eine 24-jährige Kandidatin der tschechischen Piratenpartei CPS hat wegen der baldigen Parlamentswahlen erotische Fotos ins Netz gestellt ... Mit den Fotos möchte sie für ihre Partei werben. Außerdem möchte sie Minderjährige und jungen Erwachsene auf das Wahlrecht aufmerksam machen." is as far as I know a lie. The Combination of Pirateparty, erotic and below-agers is a common prejudice in Germany.

= Conclusion =

So what was wrong in the article? Olivie is a former erotic model and she is a Candidate of the Czech Pirates. But obviously Olivie did not actively do a nude campain like (I think) the italian Communists did before. I think it makes quite a difference if she put some photos somewhere in the web to get publicity or if there were allready photos in the web, which got her publicity.

So if Czech Pirates advertise with nude pictures this is a story worth many news articles (even if common sense or a quick google check seems the story to be wrong), but former erotic model listed on Candidates for Czeck Pirates is not. However, I hope, that my wiki entry will do a little bit, to get truth into that story.

And ... how ever Olive got this much attention, I hope that she will use it to the best of her abilities and for the good of the Pirates. For example http://www.britske-listy.cz/2010/2/26/art48943.html offers a view on czech police which is not too good and perhaps there are more articles to follow, now that there are many eyes looking at her.

Yet I'm sure, that there are many people out there, who will not only put their eyes on her naked body, but will also look for example at the art published under http://universe.own.cz/

Update: It is very interesting to see, how far this message spreads. It's even more interesting, that some of the online-news obviously share exact the same news. Let us see if we can do something against it. Any Ideas?

wurde beim Übertragen von http://www.oe24.at/welt/Piratenpartei-wirbt-mit-nackter-Kandidatin-0711705.ece weiter verfälscht,
nachdem schon oe24 beim Übersetzen aus dem Tschechischen Fehler gemacht oder zugedichtet hat.
Eine kurze Quellenrecherche (evtl. mit translate.google.de) würde das bestätigen.

Eine Entfernung und/oder Richtigstellung wäre aus meiner Sicht wünschenswert.
